ADOPT A DOLPHIN INITIATIVES

The adopt a dolphin and naming initiatives will help fund our research, as well as education programs about dolphins. Both programs allow BDRI to promote conservation and management of dolphin populations in Sardinia, Italy.

Through the work of Bottlenose Dolphin Research Institute, many of the bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) sighted on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia have been identified individually through a technique called Photo-identification. For a small contribution to BDRI, you can adopt a dolphin. If you want to go a step further, you can even name your very own bottlenose dolphin for yourself or a family member or friend.

Dolphins available for adoption

Each adoption costs 40€ and lasts for one year. Check our website for biographies of the dolphins that are available for adoption. Each dolphin naming costs 150€ the first year (next years are like a normal dolphin adoption) and that name is permanently entered into BDRI 's database. After being named, that dolphin will then enter our adoption program as a new biography.

Adopt a dolphin application form

Ordering a BDRI Bottlenose Dolphin adoption or naming a dolphin will mean that you are supporting vital marine mammal research. Both packets include a personalised certificate including a photo of your adopted (or named) dolphin, a Bottlenose dolphin fact sheet, biographies of your adopted dolphins, seasonal information about your adopted dolphin and our research, BDRI's bulletin (4 numbers per year), 1 Bottlenose Dolphin Project t-shirt, sounds of your dolphin, the BDRI's wallpaper and access to BDRI News an exclusive E-forum for BDRI supporters.

The BDRI Adopt a dolphin Project needs your help so researchers can continue their exceptional work studying the bottlenose dolphins that live along the North eastern coast of Sardinia. Learning more about these marine mammals and the threats they face will increase their chances of survival.

The money raised through our adoption scheme goes towards the research of the BDRI, the pack materials are produced directly by the group itself, which means that all the profits go directly to the research effort where they are most needed.
